Poku Poku is one of Nara Park's best tonkatsu spots. Thick, golden-crusted pork cutlet, shredded cabbage, rice, miso soup ā it's the kind of meal that makes you wonder why you've been eating pork cutlets wrong your whole life.
š” Tips before you go
- Hire (ćć¬) = tenderloin (lean). Rosu (ćć¼ć¹) = loin (fattier, more flavor). If in doubt, go rosu.
- Grind the sesame seeds in the mortar they give you, then pour sauce in. This is the proper way.
- The shredded cabbage usually has unlimited refills. Use it.
- Try a piece with just salt first to taste the pork before adding sauce.
